Máximo is a Chilean economist and former Ministry of Energy of Chile. During his term (2014-2016) Pacheco led a renewables revolution in Chile passing seven laws in record time to modernize the legal framework, creating incentives for massive investment and boosting an unprecedented transformation of the sector. His green revolution has called the attention of Al Gore, as shown in his latest documentary. Pacheco served for 16 years at state-owned mining company Codelco and 13 years in the pulp and paper industry. He has degrees from Universidad Catolica de Chile (UC) where he currently leads two programmes in the Engineering School and in the Government School.
José is an economist, academic, researcher, consultant and Chilean politician. He was Minister of State during the Government of President Ricardo Lagos. Between 2007 and 2011 he served as president of the Central Bank, an entity of which he was appointed director in 2001. His work experience includes several positions, including President, Central Bank of Chile. In addition, he is a Member of the Economic Committee of the Ministry and the Committee of Capital Markets.
Rafael is Head of Willis Towers Watson Chile. Previously, he served as CEO Willis Chile for the previous 9 years. He was a founding partner of MGT Corredores de Seguro, a company which was bought by Willis in 2006. His first years in the world of insurance were developed as Head of Collective Insurance in Aetna Chile and later as Commercial Manager of Collective Insurance in AIG. He directs the company in achieving the results and margins set, ensuring that clients receive the services and advice expected. He also promotes the values of Willis Towers Watson and the development of our colleagues in Chile.
Delfin is the leader of the Latin America hub for Risk and Analytics at Willis Towers Watson. He has seventeen years of experience in the insurance industry in a number of areas including Pricing, Risk-based Capital and Performance Management. His primary responsibilities include overseeing risk consulting engagements for WTW’s major clients across all industry sectors for Latin America; the result of Actuarial models are used to help the clients in risk financing strategy and decision making.
Don has over 40 years of continuous international mining industry experience. His expertise covers mine operations and project management, risk assessment, due diligence, project review, technical audit, mine construction, project development and feasibility studies, operational technical support as well as provision of consultancy services. During his career Don has worked in underground and open pit mines around the world and has exploited a variety of commodities including gold, copper, base metals, coal, iron ore, bauxite, phosphates and mineral sands. Don joined the Willis Towers Watson Natural Resources group in 2016 and his focus is South America.
Günter is the Head of Mining within the Corporate Insurance Partner business unit of Munich RE where he manages a global portfolio of accounts. he has more than 25 years of underwriting experience in the Oil & Gas and Mining business with Gerling Global Re in Toronto, Calgary and Cologne and for the last 14 years with Munich RE, being based in Munich. Prior to his insurance career he worked as a mining engineer in German soft rock mines and in various managerial positions in an iron ore mine in Liberia, West Africa.
Ron’s career spans nearly 60 years, beginning in 1964 with IRI where during his last 10 years he ran its international division. He then spent 14 years in the broking sector before joining XL Insurance where he managed energy clients across all product lines. After a period of semi-retirement, Ron joined Starr Companies in 2010 as producer, manager and referral underwriter for all Property and Tech engineered risks.
José Antonio studied Law and Economics at University Carlos III of Madrid. He joined MUSINI in 2000 as junior Property underwriter of Large industrial accounts. After the acquisition of MUSINI by MAPFRE and the creation of MAPFRE GLOBAL RISK, he was appointed as Industry & Telecom Business Manager in 2008. In 2015 he moved to London as Manager for International Underwriting, leading the underwriting activity in the European offices. He returned to Madrid in 2017 as Chief Regional Officer for LatAm. In May 2019 he has been appointed as CUO of MAPFRE GLBOAL RISKS.
Andrew started his career in Insurance in 1983 at CT Bowring Reinsurance in London, with secondments to Faujere et Jutheau in Paris and Guy Carpenter in New York. In 1986 he became a founding director of Gracechurch Ins. Brokers Ltd. which he helped build untill 1991 when he left to join Sedgwick Plc where he was a Director responsible for Australian and European Broking Team. In March 2001, he joined Willis Ltd as UK Broking Director and in 2016 he was appointed as Client Relationship Director with multi-national client responsibilities.
Maricarmen leads the Forensic Accounting & Complex Claims function in Latin America. This team operates within Willis Towers Watson’s Risk & Analytics group and is focused on assisting clients with the quantification of losses and also conducting pre-risk exposure analysis for policy holders. She began her career over 20 years ago as a forensic accountant working for a forensic accounting firm. In 2002 started to work on behalf of policy holders and joined Willis Towers Watson three years ago.
Marc joined Willis Towers Watson as Regional Construction Practice Leader for Latin America in November 2011 and since then been involved in placement of major construction projects in Latin America, specialising in the Power & Utility industries. In January 2015 Marc was appointed Power & Utilities Regional Industry Leader for Latin America. Marc has over 21 years of experience in the insurance industry/insurance management. Prior to joining Willis Towers Watson, among other roles Marc worked for 9 years in the insurance management team at GDF SUEZ (now Engie).
Lars has 18 years of experience in the commercial insurance industry and has worked for the Zurich and Sydney branches of Swiss Re Corporate Solutions servicing mining, energy and power clients. In his current role he is managing a global mining portfolio of Swiss Re Corporate Solutions which is serviced through the Zurich and London offices. Lars holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Applied Science Zurich and a Master of Management from the Macquarie Graduate School of Management Sydney.
Tom has been with WTW since 2002, having started his career on a mine in Africa. His experience working in the Latin American property team for 5 years and then 7 years in the Global Mining Practice focusing on operational insurances worldwide led to his position in 2014 as Head of Mining for Latin America. Tom's understanding of the industry and connections within WTW allows him to bring together the very best for our clients in region, ensuring that all aspects of our Risk Engineering and Placement capabilities combine seamlessly with our dedicated Servicing teams. Tom is a Chartered Broker, a Fellow of the Geological Society of London, and an Associate of the Instituto de Ingenieros de Minas del Peru.
Robin has over 35 years’ experience of working in the Natural Resources insurance market. Since 1996, his focus has been on marketing and communications, and as Global Communications Director for Willis Towers Watson’s Natural Resources Industry group, he now specialises in promoting our thought leadership.
This is reflected in his editorship of our Energy, Mining and Power Market Reviews, blogs and other publications as well as managing and facilitating natural resources industry conferences and seminars around the world.
Bryan is a Risk Control Engineer who joined Willis Towers Watson in June 2008 after some twenty-eight years in the UK Electricity Supply Industry. Bryan is a Chartered Electrical Engineer and has previously held positions at conventional coal and gas fired power stations before leaving the industry as a Shift Maintenance Engineer at a licenced nuclear installation. Bryan is recognised as a senior member of the Power & Utilities Industry Practice of Downstream Natural Resources within Willis Towers Watson.
Adolfo is a corporate insurance manager focussed on the design, negotiation, implementation and management of several sorts of placements for power generation facilities (hydros, thermals, or windfarms) including claims coordination. His area is responsible for all corporate programs in Latin America like property damage and business interruption, casualty, marine cargo, and CAR/EAR . Adolfo also works closely with the development and legal teams in the contract analysis and so in the risk allocation for our projects in the region.
Ken is the global practice leader for Willis Towers Watson’s Forensic Accounting & Complex Claims practice. Ken’s responsibilities include supervising a multi-disciplinary team of experts engaged in various types of forensic accounting and consulting matters for a wide range of industries. He began his forensic accounting career in 1981 and continues to focus his practice in providing forensic accounting services in the measurement of damages and financial investigations on both a national and international level. He has been engaged to handle some of the largest and most complex claims, damage evaluations, and business disputes such as those resulting from Superstorm Sandy, the Japan earthquake and tsunami, the World Trade Center disaster, and Hurricane Katrina.
Andrew is a partner at Baker Tilly, based in Santiago Chile where he set up the office in 2013, having joined its previous company RGLat its London office in 2004. Along with Carlos Rivera, partner in Baker Tilly’s Miami office, he oversees the company’s expansion in Latin America and cases worked on throughout the region. For over a decade, Andrew has focused his work on forensic accounting, specializing in the calculation and measurement of losses for insurers and lawyers. His experience includes business interruption and reinsurance claims in Energy, and several other industries.
Alejandro started his career at Andueza y Cía in 1981 where he was in charge of Engineering Management, participating in the development of insurance programs and risk management of the main industrial, mining and energy companies of Chile. He also participated in the development of important claims settlements of companies such as Codelco, Enap, Copec, CMPC, Arauco, Cap, AES Gener and many others. Since 1996, he has worked for SGC Adjusters; he is the Partner responsible for the Dept. of Engineering Risks, developing important loss adjustments for the most diverse industries of Chile under the coverage CAR (Construction All Risk) and All Property Risk and Interruption of business.
Michael joined Willis Towers Watson in January 2019 as Head of Claims for the company’s Latin American Corporate Risk & Broking (CRB) business. He has 16 years of complex claims management experience having worked previously as an international loss adjuster, a complex claims manager for a leading international (re)insurer and now as a broker. Michael has maintained a strong bias throughout his career towards managing claims in Latin America and has worked throughout the region, as well as having lived in Mexico City. He holds an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish & Management from the University of Leeds (UK), is a qualified member of the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) and is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb).
Gabriela is the International Manager for Energy and Property at IRB Brasil Re, which she joined 12 months ago. Previously she was Facultative Regional Manager at SCOR where she worked for eight years, having previously held underwriting positions at Brookfield Corretora and Generali. She is one of the most experienced energy underwriters operating in the Latin American energy insurance market.
Oscar Restrepo is the husband of Ana Lucia and father of José Julián y Camilo. In December 2013, he joined the EPM Group to lead the management of Maxseguros EPM Ltd., captive of the Group's reinsurance. He is a Risk Engineer with specialization in Business Management and during the last 22 years he has worked in several positions in the insurance and reinsurance market.
Maria has 20 years’ experience in the construction industry, 15 of which have been focused on LatAm Construction Contractors and Projects. She lead construction teams in Spain, London, Chile and is currently the Construction Industry Leader for Latin American and Caribbean based in Miami. She has more than US$ 40billion in project experience in the LatAm region, including program design , placement and servicing of major Contractor’s CCIP ́s, and OCIPs for Owners on all aspects of construction insurances in both annual and project specific programs.
Mr. Gustavo Soto is a structural Civil Engineer and is currently Vice President of the Property and Engineering Division at Crawford, Chile/Graham Miller. With 34 years of experience in managing complex claims, he has also worked in the Crawford operations in Spain, and Brazil. Within the "Large & Complex" space, he has handled many claims, including the payment of the largest individual indemnity registered in Chile, for more than USD 500 million.
Ricardo is a graduate from the Faculty of engineering mechanics of the National University of engineering, with postgraduate studies in Machine design and Business Administration from ESAN. He is currently the Peru Country Manager for RTS, where he has worked for the las three years. For twenty years before that he worked for Crawford Peru, where he was responsible for managing the Engineering team (senior civil, mechanical and electrical engineers).He has a wide experience of assessing claims up to US$50,000,000, including losses emanating from the mining, metallurgical energy, fishery, refinery, steel making and oil & gas industries.
